Okay. So... I live in Portland, Oregon. One of the nicer neighborhoods, but it is still peppered with crime, graffiti, and rampant car theft. Such a sad state for such a once warm and inviting city. I have 3 Mercedes of various ages, and frankly, I'd like to keep 'em! So I bought 2 for my daily drivers, just to see if they were any good. They arrived, and they are really just a little boxes. Thats it. The service is $30/mo per car, so NOT cheap. But my insurance discounts my policies by $15/mo, so that's something. I charged them. and set 'em up on the website. I had little problem there... just remember the easiest place to "add a tracker" is on the login page. They have all connected without issues. The webpage is just fine... it locates the cars within 50' or so... that's fine for my uses. Lots of customization. Perimeters were a big deal for me, I was able to customize them. My neighbor is going to get one of these for his teen... just to keep his teen "honest"! It should be great. I liked the performance enough (mine are inside body panels and they get a signal just fine, they also track in real-time fine, too) that I bought another unit for my classic 'benz as well. Don't kid yourself... they're just "giving" the units away to get you signed up for their service. I don't know if these units are "unlocked", so I can go with another, cheaper service, but you CAN change the sim card. Overall I think the units are really a great value, the online service is very good (if pricey for multiple units), and, so far, feel like I "paid a quarter and got back a dollar".

UPDATE: Finally canceled the service because I no longer need it and canceling was pretty easy. I chatted support, said, "hey I wanna cancel" and they pointed me straight to the page to cancel (which now that I see it, I could have found it on my own if I just looked for it). Filled it out and bam, was canceled right away. I saw somebody complaining on here that it wasn't easy to cancel... was pretty easy for me :| Took like 2 minutes. They said I can reactivate it whenever AND it apparently has a LIFETIME warranty... that's pretty amazing. I never see lifetime warranties in products these days. If I ever need to track something again, I'll re-activate this! Worked really well when I was using it!I like it so far but one thing they don't mention on here is the prices for other service options: $25 for 1 minute updates (only updates map every 1 minute) up to $45 for about 5 second updates. I'm using this in case my electric bicycle (a very powerful and expensive one) gets stolen (I hid this unit INSIDE the bike's battery packaging [so it looks like part of the battery] and have it charging via the battery so it will basically last forever) and so far, it works perfectly. I set up a test with my girlfriend where she took the bike and I had to find her just using the GPS. Caught her at a store about 15 minutes after she said "come find me." So I'm very pleased with it so far! I did have to search around in the area for a little bit because sometimes it's not super accurate even outside but still, found her in 15 minutes... pretty good! They don't really advertise it as that kind of tracker but... works well.Pros:- Works pretty much right out of the box, YOU DO NOT NEED TO GO BUY A SIM CARD, it comes with one - my favorite thing about this unit. All you have to do is register your device, setup your payment and then wait a few hours for everything to activate and start using.- Seems to be fairly accurate AS LONG as it's outdoors and moving. Once you go inside any place, as with most GPS units, it pings you all over the place within about 1,000-2,000 ft. Sometimes further. So if your using it for an electric bike like I am, you might want to take note of that. Still gives you an idea of where it is though.- No contract so you can cancel your plan and start it back up if your bike or car gets stolen. This is a pretty huge plus for me. I will have it deactivated until- Long-lasting battery. Not attached to my e-bike battery, it seems to get about a week of life per charge (like from 100% to absolute 0). Connect it to a portable USB charger and you can probably get 2 or 3 weeks out of it. Or do like me and connect it to your car or bike battery and have it last forever without recharging :D- It's small! Love the size, I actually thought it would be a little better. Included a picture of me holding it.Cons:- The service plan... and well, the unit itself, is kind of.. expensive compared to others or a pre-paid SIM card option. Then again, works right out of box.- Not always accurate, even when outside. But it works well enough.Overall: It's a nice little unit. Not the cheapest, but works right out of the box - key feature for me. Didn't have to deal with prepaid SIM card nonsense, carriers, etc.

This device was very easy to use and very accurate with location. I ended up having to buy a second one because the first one was found within the first week of placing it in the vehicle, even though I put it where I thought nobody would bother or think to look. Anyway that one was said to have been thrown away, so I bought a second one and waited a week before placing it in the vehicle again, in what I thought was another good place, and it was found the same day and turned off. The device worked amazingly, however if I could have changed anything, it would be the bulkiness of it, especially when you put it in the case. I was told that was how it was located both times, lol! Anyway, I got the second one back, so who knows....I may try it again. Another thing that I kind of didn't like was that I had already paid for the monthly subscription ($35) but couldn't transfer the subscription to the new one even though I had only gotten 1 weeks worth of use from the subscription. I ended up having to pay for another month for the second device.

I just purchased the unit from Amazon a couple of weeks ago, I use it so my wife can track my movements when I take my motorcycle for a ride. With the colder weather limiting my time out, I've only tested it a few times so far, but very happy with the accuracy and the battery life. I've had mine on the performance mode (the fastest when moving at 5 sec pings) and it's done very well for me. I will update this at some point when I've tested it more, but overall the unit was priced well on Amazon, but keep in mind you do need to purchase a monthly or yearly subscription to begin tracking with the device. For me, the cost is worth the peace of mind my wife has so she can keep an eye out for me on those long rides and hopefully I'll never need it to find me if something bad should happen but at least it gives her the knowledge of where I am and where I've been. The magnet is SUPER strong so no worries there, but it even has 2 areas where you can apply a zip tie as a backup if you like. I haven't tested it out in very dense areas yet where cell phone reception is limited, but again, will update when I can test all aspects of the unit. Can't say anything with regard to tech support either since I've had no problems thus far. In any case, if what I've said is in any way helpful to you, and you are looking for a good tracker for whatever reason, I can highly recommend this one! Thanks, fellow riders be safe out there! :)

This tracker is better than i anticipated. The customer support is some of the best I’ve ever dealt with and the device is incredibly accurate. The subscription is a little pricier then what i think it should be but definitely worth it.

This thing does it all and somethings you wouldn't think truly the best bang for your buck tracker on the market in my opinion.

It took 4 days to find out what I was looking for. Fast Easy setup! I wish the battery life was longer only lasted 7 days.The subscription was a little more than others but we'll worth every penny!

So far not sure why the negative reviews? Working perfectly. Great customer service (had a registration problem, they solved it in minutes after hours). Works great. Notifications are great. Signal is strong. One of the least expensive trackers, came in a day and the subscription has monthly options. The magnet is strong. Exactly what I wanted.

I wanted to use this item IN my car but it says this must be use outside. Get all the sky you can get. Will this work on the inside of the car. Its advertise car be were on the car

Way more descriptive and accurate than I expected, tells you when the tracked item is speeding, all stops, how long and address of stopped location. Works great for my rental equipment.

Current price point at the time/date of this review: $79.95 with no discount/coupon currently being offered by the seller at this time. Pricing is fair, but not the lowest I’ve seen for a similar sized/type unit. However, the quality of this unit is quite decent and may (or may not) make up for the disparity in price. Even still, a decent coupon/discount would be nice to see and would certainly help make the product more appealing to the average consumer.Design is nice, nothing too fancy going on here which is fine since it’s the build quality that’ll really make the difference. And so how’s the build? Great. It’s durable enough and I trust the IP67 waterproofing rating, although I still have some small doubts about whether this will stand the test of time going through all four seasons here in Canada.My recommendation for installation: Ideally behind the dash where you can have it constantly powered, however I haven’t fully verified this unit can run while being charged, or whether it’s safe to do so. Ideally you’ll want this unit receiving power from your vehicle while running, and when the vehicle is turned off it’ll continue running over its builtin battery - this is the preferred method as less maintenance is required. Otherwise, if you plan to install this in the vehicles exterior, preferably set it in a place where there isn’t much exposure to the elements e.g. shielded by the undercarriage cover or someplace else.This unit requires a subscription, either monthly (cancel at anytime) otherwise for a lower annual rate.

This Spytech GPS tracker is pretty basic in its technical capabilities, but does the job for casual tracking of physical assets like cars, boats and bikes.The provided mounting plate & sticky tape are a bit unreliable, especially if you mounted on the car’s exterior, as it fell off my car after 3 weeks (in winter weather). Luckily, I was able to retrieve it as it fell near my house. I ended up fashioning a custom mount to secure it to my car. The cold winter doesn’t seem to have affected too much of the battery life though, so that’s good for use in the Canadian climate!To use it – yes, you do need a subscription, which is very typical of these types of GPS tracking devices. But, based on my needs, I do wish they offer a more basic (and less expensive) tier of subscription though. The Spytech app is fairly intuitive and easy to use. It’s great to be able to view your tracked object in real-time through the app, and receive notifications as well.Final word – I asked my auto insurance provider whether this device counts as a “anti-theft” device to qualify for a discount, but unfortunately, they didn’t buy it. Oh well…
