Leather cleaners plays a crucial role in preserving and maintaining the appearance and longevity of leather goods. Regular cleaning helps remove dirt, grime, and stains, preventing them from causing permanent damage or discoloration. Additionally, leather cleaner nourishes the material, replenishing essential oils and moisture to keep it soft, supple, and looking its best for years to come.
Formulation
Leather cleaners come in various formulations, each catering to specific cleaning needs. Creams provide deep conditioning for dry or aged leather, making them ideal for restoring suppleness and luster to worn-out surfaces. Sprays offer quick and convenient spot cleaning, perfect for removing stains and spills without the need for extensive application. Wipes are suitable for regular maintenance and light cleaning tasks, offering a convenient solution for keeping leather surfaces clean and protected on the go.
Compatibility
Ensure that the leather cleaner is compatible with the type of leather you intend to clean. Different types of leather, such as aniline, semi-aniline, or finished leather, require specific cleaning solutions to avoid damage. Creams formulated with natural oils and waxes are suitable for nourishing and conditioning porous leather types, such as aniline, providing deep hydration and protection against drying out. Sprays and wipes formulated with gentle cleansers are suitable for finished leathers, effectively removing dirt and grime without compromising the surface finish.
Ingredients
Examine the ingredients list to ensure that the cleaner contains gentle yet effective components suitable for leather. Look for natural ingredients like plant-based oils (such as coconut oil or jojoba oil) and extracts (such as aloe vera or chamomile), which help nourish and protect the leather without causing harm or residue buildup. Creams containing beeswax or lanolin provide additional water-repellent properties, making them suitable for outdoor leather items exposed to moisture.
Ease of Application
Consider the ease of application when selecting a leather cleaner. Choose a product that offers a simple and straightforward application process to streamline your cleaning routine. Creams with a smooth consistency are easy to apply with a soft cloth or sponge, allowing for even distribution and penetration into the leather pores. Sprays and wipes with convenient packaging and ergonomic design make spot cleaning effortless, ensuring precise application without oversaturation or mess.
Scent
Some leather cleaners may contain fragrances to impart a pleasant smell during and after cleaning. While scent is subjective, consider choosing a cleaner with a mild or neutral fragrance that won't overpower or clash with the natural scent of the leather. Creams and sprays with subtle citrus or floral notes provide a refreshing aroma without overwhelming sensitive noses, enhancing the overall cleaning experience.
Eco-Friendliness
For environmentally conscious consumers, consider the eco-friendliness of the leather cleaner. Look for products labeled as biodegradable or environmentally friendly, indicating a reduced impact on the environment during production, use, and disposal. Choose cleaners packaged in recyclable materials to further minimize environmental footprint and support sustainable practices.

I've been researching for a while about which leather conditioner to use on my 2005 Ford F150 King Ranch leather seats. My initial plan was to use Leatherique since I already had some. But after testing some on the center console arm rest, it made the leather tacky and too dark. I also read on some forums where someone used Leatherique on the whole seat and it had disastrous outcome. Then I saw a YouTube video that used Leather CPR on King Ranch leather and I took a chance and bought it. After having used the CPR, I have to tell anyone reading this review, this stuff is amazing. After applying generous amount of the conditioner to the seats, it turned a beautiful brown color. It was especially good on the back seats, where on mine, the leather wasn't too dried out, but the color faded to a pale brown, almost like raw hide. I had the center arm rest that pulled down to compare the original color and after conditioning the leather, the rest of the back seat turned into the same color as the inner part of the arm rest. The front seats had more damage both from the sun and contaminates from dirt and human sweat. It did turn some parts darker. I think I will have to buy a separate leather cleaner such as Leather New or saddle soap to actively remove the grime out in these areas. The feel of the leather after conditioning gave it the same supple and smooth feeling as the original. There was no stickiness or grippy texture after it dried out. Smell was neutral. Overall, I am extremely pleased. Highly recommend it if you are planning to use it for King Ranch leather seats.

Read MoreI bought this to care for and restore some used genuine leather couches we got used for a good price. They had a number of wear and scratches (previous owners had cats) on the edges of the cushions. I don't think I was overly generous when applying, but I made sure it all got covered, putting extra cleaner and effort on the scratches. I was surprised how much dirt came off. When done and dried, our couches looked like new! All the minor scratches disappeared and the larger ones are only noticeable upon close inspection. I was very happy with the results. My husband said they even feel cleaner and softer. I highly recommend.I used about half the bottle to clean all sides of a sofa and loveseat.
