When I first stumbled upon the ChargePoint Home Flex Charger, I was considering the complexities of my garage's welder outlet, a relic of past projects that never quite ignited as I intended. But voila! This ingenious charger turns my once neglected outlet into a beacon of sustainable progress. Installation was as effortless as you could imagine—plug and play at its finest. It was almost too simple, a testament to ChargePoint's design intuition that doesn't belittle the user but embraces them.**Pros:**- **Superlative Installation**: Forget the "some assembly required" nightmares. This was a breeze—plug it in and watch the magic unfold, like Gandalf showing up to deal with a minor dragon issue.- **Blazing Speed**: Charging my Tesla at 30 miles of range per hour is akin to having my own personal lightning bolt at home. If Nikola Tesla were alive today, he'd likely tip his hat at this speed—7 times faster than a standard wall outlet, practically bending the laws of electricity in my favor.- **App Brilliance**: The ChargePoint App might as well have a diploma hanging on the wall. It syncs effortlessly with smart home devices, practically reading my mind on when I need to charge and suggesting stations that I swear I’d once seen in a dream.- **Robust and Rugged**: Built to withstand the test of time and weather, it defies the odds—be it a blizzard or a curious toddler with a penchant for unplugging things.- **Cable of Mythical Proportions**: The 23-foot cable, reaching lengths you’d only expect in tall tales, ensures I can park my Tesla any which way the wind—or my reversing skills—blow me.**Cons:**- **Community Attraction**: Word has spread, and suddenly my garage is becoming a pit stop for friendly neighbors “just wanting to chat.” The community spirit is heartwarming, but I’m running out of cookies to offer.- **Eager Reminders from the App**: While the app's enthusiasm is commendable, its reminders are frequent enough that I’m considering inviting it to my calendar’s weekly mindfulness session.- **Pricey Investment**: This piece of technological art doesn’t come cheap, but neither does Picasso, and similarly, its value appreciates every day I use it.**Summary:**The ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 EV Charger is more than just a device; it’s a lifestyle upgrade. It ushers in a future where electric charging is not only accessible but an enjoyable aspect of everyday life. I feel empowered, enlightened, and just a little bit smug every time I plug in. This isn’t merely about miles; it’s about a movement. If charging is the future—and let’s face it, it is—then ChargePoint is the torchbearer leading us into this bright, electrified frontier. The way this charger simplifies what used to be a cumbersome task, paired with the connectivity of its app, turns every plug-in into an event worth celebrating. Like, love, comment, and share—especially with those friends still stuck in the gas-guzzling past. Let’s take this journey together because the future is electric, and you’ll want ChargePoint leading the charge, literally!

I learned that if you own two of these chargers, you cannot have both using the same logon for their app. I was getting a little frustrated when I was installing the second unit at the cottage. I gave support a call and they very quickly figured out my problem and explain to me what to do to get around it. I also learned that even though you hardwire the unit with a 60 amp breaker, and that it is capable of charging at 11 kWh, my car still will only charge at 9.6 kWh the same as a 50 amp breaker.

9/24/2024 Initial ReviewThe best part: 25' charging cable! I installed mine in my garage and can charge the car there or in the driveway. Many of these chargers come with much shorter cables - this is better.InstallationVery easy. I went with the hard wire and as shown in the pictures I made my own whip per the instructions. Things to mention *not applicable for plug in version.3/4" Trade size liquid tight conduit meets NEC code and fits the connector on the charger perfectly. The ring terminals specified (#8/M4) are not common (for 6AWG THHN) but I found them on DigiKey made by Molex and UL certified. You will need the proper crimper if you go this route which are available here.*applicable for all modelsThe templates included were accurate and useful. The included fasteners were of excellent quality and the holster is very well designed and accommodates the whole cable as shown in the pictures. As far as charging -Consistently delivers 47-48 Amps. The app is intuitive, includes a dark mode, and gives an accurate cost estimate if you put your rates in. the only feature I wish it had at present is a soft reset. The device is secured to the wall using security torx bits and comes with an allen style key that works. I had the right bit on hand which saved a lot of frustration. They also included an extra one which was a nice touch. All in all I think this is a great Level 2 charger with an energy star rating (I am a DTE customer and the energy star was the requirement for the rebate)

I have had this charger for a week and so far it does everything I was hoping it would do. The app is straightforward to use....just make sure you set up the time zone correctly so your charging schedules work as expected. I especially like the slider that allows you to dial the amperage exactly where you want it. For example, I like to charge off of our solar panels during the day, and can adjust the amps to match what the sun is delivering. The unit seems very well built, though of course only time will tell how durable it proves to be. The setup was intuitive/easy. And the support has been outstanding...very responsive. I have it installed inside, so can't comment on how weatherproof it is, but I watched a review by Tom Moloughney (evchargingstations.com) who beats up the chargers pretty well in his testing, and he liked this unit - which is why I decided to try it. I had an issue with how my EV (VW ID.4) behaves, in that it goes into a deep sleep apparently after 6 hours of being idle, and at that point an external charger turning on doesn't wake it up. The answer was to schedule a short (5 min) charging session at 8 PM so that deep sleep has not engaged by midnight when the rates are low and the main charging session starts. The app allows up to three charging schedules, which is nice. Note that if your schedule crosses midnight, you need to set up one schedule for the before midnight portion, and one for after midnight. My schedules are midnight to 3 PM (when rates are low) and a 5 minute session at 8 PM to wake up the sleepy car. The charger can deliver up to 48 amps on a wired 240 connection, I have a plug, so 40 amps is the max. So far, very happy - it has all the things I need and the price was reasonable.

ContextThis is the third charger I’ve installed dating back to 2012 and the second that I personally when did the electrical work as well as the actual charger install (get a professional electrician if you are not qualified to do this work). I went with a 50 AMP GFCI breaker as is called for in local code (Va) and a NEMA 14-50R receptacle, all of which were available on Amazon. I’m charging a 2022 Rav4 Prime XSE which has the onboard advanced charging capability. I’ve had the unit in place and running for just over a month now. I charge overnight and during the day in between trips. The unit is installed in a storage closet off a carport and is connected to the wireless router in the main house.Buying DecisionAfter doing a lot of research, and reading up on current charging technologies I had a list of what was out there and what I wanted. The EVIQ had ALL of them, hardwire vs. plug-in, wireless connectivity, intelligent charging via Smart App (more on that below), 2-yr warranty, UL/Energy star/FCC and IP66. Add to that the extended cable, which is a huge plus for those who may need it and most of all COMPATIBILITY. My wife is planning to buy a Tesla in the next few months and I had to be sure the new unit would work with that as well. The EVIQO is the right solution for now and for the future. The price point fort the EVIQOInstall & Out of Box ExperienceRight of the bat I was impressed with the quality of the packaging. Solid double walled box which arrived in perfect shape and could clearly have handled the rough handling I’ve seen with other deliveries. The charger came with clear documentation, all the hardware you would need to install in either an indoor or outdoor environment and a connector bracket that acts as a saddle for the cable. I'm not using it in this install but will for my next. The install was as easy as it gets with an included template for both the charger itself and the bracket. In my case it is mounted indoors on a solid piece of plywood but the bolts included came with gear to mount on drywall or brick/concrete. The unit is surprisingly light which made handling easy but don’t get me wrong. This thing is SOLID. The cable is a little stiff but that’s to be expected given the juice your pushing over it and can’t be avoided. The cover for the connector is very sturdy which was refreshing. My previous charger didn’t even come with a cover.Charging and App ExperienceI’ve been charging for just over a month now and I am beyond impressed. Even without the full 46 AMP capability that a hardwire installation would have provided the performance is just amazing. I’m able to go from 0% to 100% charge (Approx 13.5 kWh) in about 3 Hrs., average charge between errands and such tops the battery back off with about 6.58 kWh in about 1.5 hours. This means I’m able to use my plug-in hybrid like a pure EV for the vast majority of my driving. When my wife adds her Tesla to the mix we’re still going to be able to charge both cars overnight with no worries. The app is SO much better then what I was using with my previous charger. Reporting features are good and you can set multiple schedules, assigning charging costs so your notifications include how much it cost you to charge each time. Call me petty but I like to rub that in my friends face when gas prices are spiking 😉. Add to this the fact that you can manually adjust the AMPS used while charging to allow for a slower charge rate when time is not a factor. You can also view the hardware and firmware versions in place, get a report when there is a firmware update and review the log for all activities from installation. And Yes, there have been at least two firmware updates since I installed the unit and that shows that the manufacturer is constantly making improvements and stands behind their product. In today’s world that is priceless!Summary: Already planning to buy another! The EVIQO is by far the best value on the market from my research and experience. It offers premium features, high quality construction, advanced app functionality and a 2 yr. warranty that all adds up to an exceptional value and outstanding performance. As I noted earlier my wife is planning to buy a Tesla and it’s inevitable that we’ll both want to charge at the same time so I already know I’m going to be in the market for another charger. I can skip the research phase and move right onto buying another EVIQO with complete confidence that we’re going to get the best value, top of the line performance and solid customer support. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the EVIQO to anyone who’s looking for a new car charger, be it your first or your latest. You can’t go wrong with this unit and your car will thank you.

Exactly as advertised, very easy to install. 40 amp out of the box, simple internal dial setting for the 48 amp upgrade when you are ready to hardwire and delivers just under 48 amps steady. Scheduling from the charger is a perfect workaround to Chevrolet's confusion, allowing me to have the vehicle charged and ready as soon as possible at the lowest time of use rate. I like the precise kWh tracking and history, leaving no doubts about calculating the actual costs. Only complaint would be a software bug calculating the cost leaving me with an extra manual step - still a 5 star for the value.

I had to return my first unit as it didn't seem to work but J+ customer support were fantastic and incredibly responsive. I even got a discount on my 2nd unit. This really is the best portable charger out there, and it comes with a bracket to make it a fixed one at home if you want. It really is very sturdy, though that does also mean its heavier. As you will find on the internet people have driven over these with pickups and they still work. Well, I have not, and will not try that. But compared to my KIA OEM and another aftermarket brand unit this one does look like it will survive multiple droppings on concrete etc. without any issues. Comes with a separate 120V and a 240V connection cable so you can use either type outlet which is nice. Just be careful the sleeve on the connection between the control unit and the short 120 or 240V cable "positively" connect and clicks. You'll find out quick enough if it hasn't anyway as with the weight of the control unit, it will pull apart with gravity, and unit won't work anyway if connection not correct. Its nice to be able to set it for a multitude of current settings up to 40A in case you need that variable capability. Comes in a very nice case (though large) to fit the whole unit. Only minor gripe is that the rubber cover on the J1772 end is a little snug to get off and on, but then it probably makes it much more weatherproof. Has been great doing 120V at home indoors and 240V at work outdoors (and in the sleet/snow this week). Supposedly its been tested after dunking in several feet water. Its also UL rated. Its a little pricey compared to some others but even the 21ft system ( I have the 25) is still a little longer than some others but I think it is well worth the $$ and should last a lot longer than others especially if used outside and exposed to the weather. You can buy a lock to ensure the unit can't be removed from the wall holder (if you use that) or someone can't disconnect the wall outlet cable from the control unit (stops the connecting sleeve sliding to unlock). Shout out again to Greg and the great customer support at J+.

I bought this charger after looking at some of the various hardwired/wall chargers on Amazon. I was really surprised to see that this one has the same charging power (40 amps) as almost every wall charger, but it's small and portable. So far it works perfectly for charging my Tesla Model S and typically charges at around 31 miles/hour.I hadn't heard of the brand before. I saw a few articles written about this specific charger so I decided to give it a try. Apparently, this manufacturer is based in Switzerland and is one of the leading charging brands in Europe.I really appreciate that it's built like a tank; it's actually driveover proof and waterproof. It's also built out of high quality aluminum, which just looks a lot better than all of the other plastic chargers out there. I definitely appreciate the peace of mind knowing this charger is built to last and doesn't need to be babied. The carrying case is a bit large as others have mentioned, but it does fit in either the trunk or the frunk of the Model S without any issue.

I ended up in the market for a new charger after my Tesla Mobile Connector started failing after a few years of use. The Mobile Connector would no longer charge at the full 32 amps and the car would report different error codes. After shopping around, I found this is the only 40 amp EV charger with swappable outlet adapters; so it’s really the only charger you need. On top of that, it’s portable, built like a tank, and has a 2 year warranty. I was hesitant about the price, but found it’s the same price as 40 amp competitor chargers that aren’t portable or have to be installed/hardwired by an electrician. It’s a bit bigger and heavier than the Mobile Connector, but it’s also made of aluminum and durable materials. The Mobile Connector feels like cheap plastic all around. Despite its size, it’s still easy to fit in my car, in either the frunk or the storage compartment under the trunk.I definitely appreciate the included wall bracket which makes it super easy to use like a wall charger at home.Overall, I think this charger will last a very long time and I am confident it will work as intended since it’s designed and manufactured in Switzerland. The only downside I can think of is the cost, but I’d much rather pay a bit more for something that will last versus buying cheaper chargers every couple of years.
