Door Hinge repair Kit

A door hinge repair kit is an essential tool for helping your door work smoothly and preventing further damage. If you're dealing with sagging doors, misaligned hinges, or loose screws, choosing the right repair kit is important. Consider a few key factors to ensure you get the best results and restore your door to its proper function.
A good door hinge repair kit should include all the necessary components to tackle common hinge problems. Typical kits contain items such as replacement screws, hinge pins, lubricants, and tools for removing and installing the hinges. Some kits may also include specialized items like shim washers or hinge reinforcement plates. Ensure that the kit you choose contains the components required for your specific hinge issue.
Door hinge repair kits can vary based on the type of hinge, such as butt hinges, continuous hinges, or concealed hinges. Ensure that the repair kit is compatible with the type of hinges installed on your door. If you have multiple types of hinges in your home, you may need a kit that includes components suitable for each type.
Look for a kit that includes high-quality screws and durable hinge pins. Components made from materials like stainless steel or brass tend to offer better durability and resistance to rust and corrosion. Check product reviews or manufacturer information to ensure that the components are reliable and of good quality.
Some repair kits come with detailed instructions and diagrams to guide you through the repair process. Look for a kit that includes clear and easy-to-follow instructions, especially if you are new to DIY repairs. Some kits also offer online resources or customer support to assist with any questions or issues you may encounter during the repair.
A versatile kit that includes components for various hinge issues can be a valuable investment. For example, a kit that addresses both loose hinges and misaligned doors provides a more comprehensive solution. Some kits may also include additional tools or accessories that enhance their functionality, such as a hinge alignment tool or a screw extractor.

I have (had?) a very heavy, poorly-installed, poorly-repaired-by-prior-owners, exterior door going into my garage, they'd already stripped any semblance of a proper screw out, including 3" #12 screws (with one snapped off about an inch in), making my life hard. Replacing the whole frame, all the trim, the painting (I frickin' hate painting) was absolutely soul crushing to think about. I found this product, it worked like an absolute charm. Very good, very easy, hard to find these days. Bag comes with everything you need- the right sized pilot hole bit, the torx bit, all you need is a decent drill. As others have mentioned, the supplied door screws are self-tappers, so if you cross thread them, they'll do what you ask and cut through anything and bugger things up for you. However, I also don't see why you couldn't just back out the big screw that the little self-tappers go into, and start over. Either way, these are expensive, but worth their literal weight in gold when you factor in everything that would go into replacing the whole jamb, weather stripping, all the trim, the painting (I frickin' hate painting), and your general sanity.

Read MoreThis is my second time ordering these for door in my home. They are brilliant. Yes, they are not cheap but they come with everything one needs, provided you own a drill, and do EXACTLY what you need. It could not be easier to install.I was surprised to read the negative reviews on these as they work so well. I read through a few of them and almost all were user error related. The brass inserts are internally threaded to except the provide (be them standard) hinge screws. They went in super smooth and hold tight.I installed these on a basement door that has a wall that only allows it to open just past 90 degrees. People often swing it open and the force of it slamming into the door stop, pulled out the hinges. Tried several fixes but it was only these that have worked, and lasted. Those were installed several years ago and still holding up perfectly. Just installed a second set in a door where the hinges let go.
Read MoreWorks great on hollow doors. With permanent repair.
Read MoreThe inserts do work as intended. Seating deep enough to hit framing inside door frame. I did not rate higher because I feel the cost is too high, partially driven by the fact you can’t buy the inserts only. They’re all packaged in kits with 2 driver bits and a drill bit. Once you have a kit, or in most cases folks have these tools, you shouldn’t have to keep re-buying them when you need inserts; very wasteful.
Read MoreThe screws on the upper hinge to my front door had stripped, causing my door to sag and rub on the door frame. This also caused my dead bolt to be misaligned and not secure properly. I followed the simple instructions. It literally took me 5 minutes to install, and completely solved all my door issues. Quality hardware. Everything you need is included except the drill and screwdriver. I totally recommend this product for stripped hinge screws.
Read MoreThis is a quick, inexpensive fix for stripped hinges. It comes with everything you need besides the drill. It only took about 15 minutes to go from broken door to good as new.
Read MoreThe ZZem Screw Door Repair is a brilliant piece of engineering that just works. The product is solid and well thought through. Everything is supplied but a power drill. Accepts #9 hinge screws as the manufacturer states. It literally takes only minutes to install. For me, the result is a door that now closes properly.I want to say something about the price as I see some people seem to expect this to cost less. It may appear to be simple, but it takes quite an investment to produce a well-designed product such as this and be able to supply it for this price. If you want to pay less, I'm sure someone in another country will eventually produce a knockoff using pot metal that will eventually break after installed. In contrast, the ZZem insert is solid brass which I expect will last long after I'm gone.
